Standing in Time

Daniel 8
Intro: alerts and real time events

This passage was to comfort the people of God so they would know that even though times would get worse, God was still in control. He wanted them to be armed with knowledge so they would not lose hope when all looked snuffed out. This passage offers us comfort today as well. We are reminded of the sovereignty of God as we consider prophecy that was fulfilled. God is working his plan today as he was when he gave Daniel the vision. We can trust his plan even though it seems he’s conquered by the pride of people.

  • Daniel

Romans 12:1 – I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

John 15:18-25 – “If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. [19] If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. [20] Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. [21] But all these things they will do to you on account of my name, because they do not know him who sent me. [22] If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have been guilty of sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin. [23] Whoever hates me hates my Father also. [24] If I had not done among them the works that no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin, but now they have seen and hated both me and my Father. [25] But the word that is written in their Law must be fulfilled: ‘They hated me without a cause.’

3.    The Plan of God

  • Shepherd

1 Peter 1:12 – It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look.

Conclusion:

God’s word is true.

God is sovereign.

God’s plan is Jesus’ preeminence in our time.

There are three great truths, 1st, that there is a God; 2nd, that He has spoken to us in the Bible; 3rd, that He means what He says. Oh, the joy of trusting Him!
